Henry Martin “Marty” Mayfohrt Jr.
May 25, 1954 – March 10, 2023
Clovis, California – Henry Martin “Marty” Mayfohrt Jr., born on May 25, 1954, in Santa Rosa, California, was a cherished son of Henry Martin Mayfohrt Sr. and Betty Marie Lowdermilk. A true Californian, Marty’s heart belonged to the San Joaquin Valley, having lived in Turlock, Modesto, Bakersfield, and Fresno.
Marty graduated from West High School in Bakersfield in 1972 and earned his accounting degree from California State University, Bakersfield in 1976. His professional journey began at Fox and Company, an accounting firm in Bakersfield. His career later took him to Santa Barbara, where he worked for Sunburst Exploration under his dear friend Bud Reid.
Though an accountant by training, Marty’s true passion lay with cars. This love led him to managerial roles at Bill Wright Toyota and Family Motors, and ultimately to his dream of owning Madera Auto Center in 2000. Even as he faced cancer, Marty’s spirit remained strong, and he ensured his legacy by passing the business to his beloved daughter, Lauren.
Marty found joy in NASCAR and Indy car races, golfing, working out, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He often reminisced about the idyllic years spent on St. Cloud Lane in Bakersfield, where close-knit families created lasting memories.
Marty is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lela, his daughters Michelle Coupe (Damon) and Lauren Millard (Ray), and his adored grandchildren: Austin Coupe and twins Reagan and Haley Millard. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hinds Hospice of Fresno.
